Seiya Takehaya (竹早静弥, Takehaya Seiya?) is a second-year student at Kazemai High School and president of the Kyudo Club, as well as serving as the captain of the boys' team.

Appearance[]

Seiya is a tall, slender teenage boy with short black hair, bangs, and two longer locks on either side of his face. In contrast, the back of his hair is shorter, a lock of hair sticks up from the top of his head, and blue eyes that is framed by glasses with thick black frames, which he switches out for contacts during kyudo. The glasses conceal a black mole near his right eye.

Personality[]

Seiya is viewed as a mature. Perfect realistic and calm personality. He is very intelligent. His academic track record is so good, he represents his incoming class. It is also a secretive personality and does not reveal what is inside it, reliable, and kind character, determined to facilitate and oversee Minato Narumiya's success in kyudo. However, as he himself stated in Episode 2, when he gets serious, he does not need compassion.

History[]

Seiya and Minato have been friends since they were kids due to being neighbors. Along with Ryouhei Yamanouchi, the three of them were kindergarten and elementary school friends and had many adventures together.

Story[]

Seiya enters Kazemai high school in their first year, following Minato Narumiya and he is chosen as the student representative. Shortly after, he joins the kyudo club and becomes their president.

After the second round of the competition, Shuu Fujiwara claims that Seiya doesn't love archery. [Anime only]

Shooting Technique and Ability[]

Seiya is very talented and is a reliable hitter for his team. He is natural skilled and intelligent which translates into his Kyudo ability.

Relationships[]

Minato Narumiya[]

Seiya and Minato are childhood friends and were pretty close until the moment when Minato started having target panic. This makes Seiya very protective of his friend because he considers himself guilty of the death of Minato's mother and his subsequent problems. In particular, he constantly tries to cross with him and even secretly goes to that high school as Minato, which is why Ryohei jokingly calls him a stalker. Shu even suggests that Seiya is generally engaged in archery just to be close to him.

Shuu Fujiwara[]

Despite having been on the same team in the past, Seiya and Shuu have a bitter rivalry over Minato. Shuu thinks Seiya is too protective over Minato, hampering his growth, calling him "Minato's knight". Though by the end of nationals the two get on better terms, sharing food with each other.

Masaki Takigawa[]

Seiya makes it clear from the onset he doesn't like Masaki, even telling him he hates him in the anime. It's implied he doesn't trust Masaki's influence over Minato or his motives becoming coach. Though his dislike of Masaki mellows once his motives are addressed. Despite his personal dislike of Masaki, he respects his ability as a coach and rarely contradicts his coach's suggestions.

Kaito Onogi[]

Seiya has a soft spot for Kaito finding his try-hard attitude amusing he frequently teases Kaito and watches him closely.

Trivia[]

  • Seiya has a dog named Kuma, which means "bear" in Japanese.
  • Seiya's favorite food is stir fried water spinach.[1] He also likes spicy foods.
  • The least favorite is ratatouille, as there are many things that he dislikes in there. However, what it is exactly is a secret. [1]
  • Seiya's hobby is watching soccer games. He enjoys collecting data and creating strategies.[1]
  • Seiya is a dog person.[1]
  • Seiya likes mountains as he used to play together with Minato Narumiya.[1]
